Feeling super lazy even to move an inch?
Are you spending your whole day on the couch in front of the TV?
Or you feel like buried under loads of work?
These things happen to all of us, everyone needs a break from a monotonous daily routine. We are not machines, programmed to do a same set of repetitive tasks.
Being lazy is not liked by anyone, but at times it is felt beyond our control to overcome it and get back to work or may be to increase efficiency.
To begin with, we have to find the reasons for our laziness.
Yes, you heard me correct. There can be many reasons for a person to be lazy. By a little analysis, we can find out the reasons to save us from this misery.
How to identify your cause of being lazy?
Many people consider laziness as a personality trait, but there are many hidden causes behind it. Some of these are–
Depression: Depression is hard to be detected at times as the person suffering may not show any signs and symptoms. People with low self esteem and negativity may suffer from the same. They act lazy and procrastinate things as they lack motivation.
Fear: Fear from a particular situation or from day-to-day life make a person turn to laziness as it appears as a comfortable escape. These can be, unable to meet the criteria set by others, afraid to fulfil your goals, not willing to be the way others want you. You may get anxious about falling short in front of things beyond your control.
Lack of purpose: Without a purpose in life, one feels like a ship without a sail on the ocean. Based on the past experiences or situations one may feel a lack of trust to plan or dream again taking laziness as an excuse. Researchers have found a direct relation between happiness and having a purpose in life.
Biological issues: If you often feel tired, exhausted, unmotivated or some unusual issue, you must consult a doctor. Illness like Thyroid, Diabetes, anemia, etc may cause low energy level in the body.
Boring routine: Whether a corporate person or a college student, tight schedule of events makes them work hard and hence exhausted. The unchanged schedule makes it boring and hence a feeling of dragging comes in.
As now we know the reason for our problems, let’s talk about the ways to overcome these and make our life full of happiness and abundance.
How to stop being lazy?
1. Plan your day to avoid being inactive
I agree that planning doesn’t always go well. But why to live a life of a leaf floating in the wind?
When we plan things, we put in efforts to complete them. We get a purpose, a direction for moving in life. It kills the mundaneness of daily routines.
2. Start your day with Exercise and avoid being lazy
Focus on your health to avoid the hidden causes for laziness.
Workout along with a proper diet helps in regulating the blood flow and oxygen in the body making us live healthy and happy, keeping away many illnesses.
3. Positive self-talk for motivation
Positive self-talk helps in boosting confidence, whereas negative once brings it down. Fear of failures lowers the confidence and hence taking a refuge in laziness.
Often challenge yourself to achieve some targets in life and motivate to try again on failing.
4. Find motivation
All days are not same; some are good and some are with a low energy level.
Get some motivation to overcome low moods and lack of energies. This will pump freshness into the boring norms.
Often working in teams has shown people getting motivated from each other.
5. Put timelines for the tasks to avoid delays
Putting time limits gives motivation, without that we may land into the habit of procrastinating, which is often confused with laziness.
Value the time and finish tasks within timeframe, this will give us spare time for planning things we often dream off with our family and friends.
6. Ask for help whenever needed
Seeking help whenever required is not bad.
By seeking help we allow others to guide us with new ways and that helps in increasing our knowledge.
At times our imagination and thoughts are blocked and biased making us stuck and unable to find the solutions. Also, this helps in bonding well with others, along with finding different ways to do the same task.
7. Do not try to be perfect
No one is perfect and so are you.
Try to perform your tasks with perfection, but must accept some failures as lots of things are directed by the situations and are not controlled by us.
Often people put them under immense pressure to outperform tasks, making them suffer from stress, tensions and other ailments.
8. Do things you are thinking about
We all think of learning new things, but delay them due to reasons like not finding time etc.
Start by taking action to do them. Be it learning guitar, a trip to the mountains, spending time at old age home etc.
9. Use your strengths to balance weakness
Pondering on strengths will give us new motivation along with finding ways to balance our weakness with them.
Everyone has some or the other weakness, we must find ways to use them in a better way rather than feeling bad.
10. Follow your passion
When we follow our passion, we have a reason or purpose in life.
Try to make a career around your passion or maybe start working on it in spare time.
Laziness is not a disease; it is a state of mind. All the days are not same and hence this state can be changed easily. We need to find the reason causing laziness and work to remove it. Once you know the reason you can easily kick off laziness out of your life.
So, what is your kind of laziness?
